The EnAccess Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering Open innovation in the distributed renewable energy (DRE) sector, has launched the Digitalization Support Hub, an Open-access platform designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopt and scale digital tools for greater efficiency, profitability, and impact.

The Digitalization Support Hub addresses key barriers to digitalisation—such as lack of awareness, tool selection challenges, skills gaps, and cost constraints—by providing an interactive digital tools map, a guided selection wizard, hands-on support, and a collaborative knowledge-sharing community.

The platform was developed as a collaborative effort, sparked by an initial workshop from A2EI and brought to life by EnAccess and GET.invest with funding from Good Energies Foundation, incorporating vital input from sector experts, technology providers, and key stakeholders including  GOGLA, GDC, EnDev, and RLI.

Why This Matters

Digital transformation is important for DRE companies to optimize operations, improve customer engagement, and unlock financing. Yet, many SMEs—especially those in emerging markets—struggle to navigate the complex landscape of available technologies. The Digitalization Support Hub bridges this gap by offering:

– A curated, user-friendly database of digital tools tailored for DRE businesses

– Personalized recommendations via an intuitive selection wizard

– Pilot support programs for SMEs needing direct implementation assistance

– Training resources and peer-learning opportunities to build digital capacity

“Digital tools can revolutionize how off-grid energy providers operate, but adoption remains low due to accessibility and knowledge gaps,” said Vivien Barnier, chief executive officer at EnAccess. “The Digitalization Support Hub removes these barriers, empowering SMEs to harness technology for sustainable growth and wider energy access.”

“The Digitalization Support Hub responds to a critical gap: the lack of up-to-date, centralised information on available digital solutions that the energy sector can tap into. Data is a key driver that allows clean energy companies and projects to improve their operations, increase transparency on their impact and reduce costs”, said Victoire Cowley-Gottlieb, advisor at GET.invest, which supports the platform. GET.invest is a leading European programme that mobilises investment in clean energy, co-funded by the European Union, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria.
