Introducing the Humanitarian Energy Co-design toolbox
Outsight International, with the support of EnAccess Foundation, has developed the Humanitarian Energy Co-Design Toolbox to support humanitarian (energy) practitioners with three core challenges:
1. Engaging with co-design practices
2. Ensuring that this engagement is meaningful
3. Benchmarking their own practices against others to ensure a complete understanding of where practices can be improved.
During the webinar, the panelists, Vivien Barnier – EnAccess CEO, Joelle Hangi, Inclusivity Specialist – Global Platform for Action and Ben Robinson, Energy Team Lead – Outsight International, emphasized the importance of involving affected communities in creating tailored energy solutions. This approach seeks to overcome top-down methodologies that often overlook the needs and inputs of local populations.
The Humanitarian Energy Co-design toolbox serves as a self-guided learning resource for humanitarian practitioners, providing valuable insights, templates, and frameworks to enhance the co-design of energy solutions in displacement contexts. It is also Open Source, allowing for widespread adaptation and use.
